Continuing Education is very important in a hair stylist’s world.  It is imperative to never stop learning and embrace everything that is new.  Attend cut and color classes just to see current trends and styles, and don’t be afraid of reinvention. I  joined the Cristiano Cora team two months ago and have had the opportunity to develop my haircutting  techniques with Cristiano Cora himself.

I’ve learned the proper way to execute an impeccable graduated bob.  You should always comb the hair from roots to end to determine a precise foundation.  Always work with the hair’s natural texture and never straighten into submission.  Also, it is very important to be aware of growth patterns and hair texture when determining shape for a client.  A great blow dry is as important as a well executed hair cut, it will make it a lot easier to help you to refine your shape.

Though it is cold outside, adding heat to your hair routine will dehydrate and create static.  Keeping your hair conditioned is the key.  One trick for keeping your hair in great condition is to use your blowdryer less or on a medium setting.  Humidifiers are great for your hair, they lock in moisture and fight static.  A good trick is to also run dryer sheets on dry hair to avoid static.

A good way to shampoo is to try to skip a day between shampoos so you don’t stop your natural hair oils from doing their job.  If you must wash your hair, just do a light rinse and condition.

Workshop Time!!! by Jeanise Aviles

It’s totally that time of year again… We took a short break from workshops this summer and now we’re back in full swing and it feels soooooo goooood……. The model search is always fun and exciting cause I fly around the city looking for beautiful and interesting looking girls. Things I look for in a model is beauty, unusual features, healthy hair and fun textures. There has to be something fun and interesting about them…. then there are times when I find really special models that need a certain look or a style. I also love when I can inspire a girl to bring out their inner glow and leaving her feeling like she has it ALLLLL GOING ON…. It’s such a great feeling for everyone involved to create a look that you never thought you could pull off or just never imagined. My mission is always to create something bizarre but suitable with a twist of beauty to make you stand out and sparkle. I really look forward to spending great times, fun and laughter with my Buddy Cristiano inspiring our guest for the weekend.
