Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Twilight, Hotel Transylvania and Dark Shadows are just a few of the movies and shows celebrating the night creature. It’s no wonder vampy looks are taking off off of the big screen as well; especially with fall and Halloween around the corner. But why wait until October 31st to try the look out?
Hair: If you are bold and daring, go for Rihanna’s cut and color circa “Disturbia”. If you’re not too big on drastic change, then try a new color. Burgundy, plums and platinum blondes are great colors, whether they’re covering the whole head, or just accenting the face with a framing panel.
Face: Smokey eyes are amazing, but can be too heavy for everyday work. Try a nude eye w/ heavy black eyeliner. (Smudge a bit for an added effect.) You can even add a wing (my personal favorite) heading from the outside of your upper lid towards the end of your eyebrow. If you go with a strong colored eye shadow, then tame it with a nude lipstick (“Cherub” by Kat Von D is nice.) However, if you go with a nude eye shadow, then make sure you wear a dark lip color. (“Rebel” by MAC is my favorite!)
Nails: Dark nails are always eye catching and complimentary. It doesn’t matter if they are long or short. Pointed nails are trending right now; and what can be any more Vampire than a wine colored pointed nail?
Warning: All of these dark reds and drastic effects are more than wonderful when pared properly. Do not use them all together (dark with dark/light with light), unless goth or undead is truly the look you wish to achieve. Have fun mixing and matching, and remember, the idea is mysterious and sexy, not dangerous and spooky.
