Hair Tricks – Transform Your Locks in Minutes. By Arleen Quinones. I Love Hair!

1) Bump a Bun to the Side

A side updo isn’t just easy, it’s always more flattering than a traditional updo.  For most people the side part makes the style less severe.  Sweep hair into a low side ponytail and secure it with an elastic.  Separate the tail into two sections, wrap each around the base of the pony tail, twisiting one around clockwise, the other counter-clockwise.  Anchor the hair with pins, hiding the ends under the coils, then pull and spread the chignon to create a messy cluster behind one ear.

2) Do the Twist

Low ponytail.  Casual, but glam.  Blow dry hair fairly smooth, the spritz it with a texturizing spray (we have a great Davines texturizing spray).  Part the hair down the middle, grab a small section on the side and roll it from the hairline back to the ear, securing it into a ponytail at the nape of the neck.  Rub a bit of pomade between fingers (we also have a fabulous Davines pomade) before you twist to help the style stay put.  Repeat the same technique on the other side of the part, then loosely connect the tails with an elastic.  Fluff out the bottom of the ponytail to give it a sexy edge.

3) Fake a Bob

Think of this sexy fake out as reverse extensions.  By altering your length, you get a completely new look – no haircut required to create it.  Blowdry hair, curl the ends under, then brush out the ringlettes to soften the the texture.  Back comb (“tease”) the hair, starting at the ends and working halfway up the strands, then tuck it under to desired length and secure it with u shaped bobby pins.  Final step: gently tug hair out from pins to create the bob shape.

4) Beautiful Boho Braid

When a last minute invite lands in your lap, go with a braid.  It’s simple, it’s quick, and it’s modern.  For this loose, boho style, dry damp hair with a diffuser.  Gather a chunk from either side of your natural part, braid it back, then twist into a loose bun, allowing a few strands to fall out and frame the face.  Don’t worry if the braid or the bun is slightly messy – undone hair is a beautiful contrast to a fancy dress or gown.
