Spring Inspiration: Ethereal Beauty by Kelly Rowe … I LOVE HAIR!!!!

Spring seems to have finally arrived. Spring is a time of delicate blooming of flowers and everything coming back to life. Take a cue from the blossoming world around and wear a ethereal style. Loose braids, hair ornaments such as hair wraps, ribbons, bands, and flowers, soft highlights, and an overall look of feminine beauty are a great direction to go for spring.

 

The best part about this hot spring trend is the styling of it is very easy to achieve at home because the whole point is for it to look not perfect. Perfectly coifed hair, slicked back styles, and stronger cuts are great for winter, spring is a time to loosen things up, in prep for the upcoming summer where we can just let our hair do whatever we want, and that in its own way is a great hairstyle.

 

Great styling products to achieve these looks are light oils such as Marula oil, this is lighter than the natural oils of the hair and allows the hair to stay smooth while still giving movement, and without weighing the hair down. Make sure that you have a great flexible hold hair spray, this will allow you to keep your style all day without hardening the style.

 

Braids are the easiest way to perfectly achieve and ethereal style. I personally love fishtails they can be maneuvered into either tight or loose looks, and look great on just about everyone. I also love hair bands made out of braids they look very feminine. If you need help learning how to do these braids have a stylist show you or have your stylist set your hair for a night out or a perfect brunch. Also, ask your stylists about adding a few highlights to brighten the overall look.

With the weather warming up we are all looking towards the upcoming summer. One of the great aspects of summer is the great textured beachy looks we can achieve with little to no work. Texture and less structured hair is very in right now. That sexy right out of bed looking fabulous look is hot and there are many ways to achieve this year round.

Salt spray is the quickest and easiest way to get this just came off the beach look. Make sure hair is slightly damp.  Spray your choice of salt spray in evenly without over soaking the hair. Comb thru and set hair to desired parting, twist hair in to large twists with fingers allow to dry naturally or with a diffuser. Do not touch or play with your hair until it is fully dried or you will develop a lot of frizz. Once dry shake hair out for a relaxed summery look.

A second way to achieve this look is using hot tools. This will take a little longer, but will give you a more polished look, this is perfect for that Victoria’s Secret look for a date. Find a styling cream or texture paste that you like and work through damp hair evenly. Dry hair with a large round brush giving height at the root and smoothness around the face. Once your hair is completely dry, take large sections and freehand wrap them around a hot curling iron, clipless irons are perfect for this, until you have completely your entire head. Leave the ends from being curled for an even less structure look. Spray with a light hold hair spray and shake out to your liking.

Lastly the most permanent option would be to have waving service done by your stylist. Waving and curling services have come so far and there are actually wraps that can be done that are called Beach Wraps. These new waving services are gentle on the hair and very effective in creating great texture. This will give you permanent beachy waves Victoria’s Secret style from morning to night, all year round.  These will require a strand test, consultation, and not all hair will be suitable, but for those committed to this awesome look is is a great option.

The ever evolving trends seem to change drastically over night.  Not to long ago, a more de structured textured look was the it look, which still can be for the right person.  But alas the days are numbered and women are going for more blunted less layered styles.

What does this mean?  It means simplicity!  Easy beautiful effortless hair that will look good regardless of your styling preference.  I, myself can appreciate a beautifully worked layer cut more than anyone else.

But what it comes down is what the hair will actually look like when you leave the salon and stand in your bathroom trying to re create what has been done.

Sure there are products that can help you along the way, but if your searching for something that is just simple, do not be afraid to ask for it!

Salon visits can be intimidating enough as it is, and sometimes going with your gut on what feel would be best for hair is the best choice.
