Elizabeth Taylor by Arnulfo Garcia

I was ten years old when my mother introduced me to the film classics and I immediately fell in love with old Hollywood glamour.  I watched all the studio greats and appreciated the works of Bette, Joan, Rita, Marlene, Audrey and Marilyn.  But of all the actresses, none had the star-quality that came natural to Elizabeth Taylor- she was stunningly gorgeous and extremely talented.

My favorite Elizabeth Taylor movie is Butterfield 8.  For this role she won an Oscar for Best Actress in 1961.  She played a fiercely glamorous prostitute that liked to “borrow” furs and plunges to her death in a sports car in the end.  I always thought the movie had a tragically fabulous ending.

On a recent trip to a vintage store I ran across and original billboard for the movie Giant.  Not only was Giant filmed in my home state of Texas but it starred Elizabeth with the equally handsome James Dean and Rock Hudson.  Naturally I wanted to own this piece of history but priced at $2,200 it was much too steep for me.  I was heartbroken but that still didn’t compare to the news of her recent passing.

Elizabeth Taylor was the last living Hollywood legend.  She was fearless, brave and lived life magnificently.  She was always known for her boozing, husbands, diamonds and diets but not for all the good she did in her community. Hollywood will  never make another actress like Elizabeth Taylor- she was larger than life.

Fun makeup trends for spring by Elena Eresko! I LOVE HAIR!!!

Every woman wants to be beautiful but you’re not necessarily born that way.  The right makeup could make magic and make every woman feel and look gorgeous. The correct makeup begins with foundation and/or powder because the shadow and blush will look perfect only on smooth skin.  Then, step by step, dust blush over cheekbones, then emphasize eyes and eyebrows with fun colors.  Final step is a lipstick which will accent the most sensual part of your face the lips. Stylish makeup depends largely on fashion.  Let’s see what makeup is in season in everyday life.

Dramatic makeup on fashion show Christian Dior Couture.

Pale skin, red shimmer lipstick and black matt eyeliner.

Natalie Portman’s makeup on Sceen Actors Guild Awards was restrained, but chic.

Dewey skin, natural lips and bright smoky-eyes.

Soft makeup on fashion show Dries Van Noten.

Nothing difficult just clean face with a little gold pigment on the eyelids and no mascara! This is new fashion trend in this season.

Moschino – makeup of the eyes inspired cat-eye glasses most urgent shape!!!

Black eyeliner and black shadow.

Chanel fashion show. Cat eyes….!!!

On New York Fashion week Derek Lam and Peter Som used colored eyeliner. Feels spring!!!…and 60-s!!!

Derek Lam used orange.

Peter Som used yellow.

So ladies wear makeup and be beautiful!!!

Clip Art

As a professional I realize “Details finish the Product”, so what I loved about this Spring Season’s runways was a look I have not seen in a while…. “ CLIPS”.

The clips popped up at Cynthia Rowley (big metallic versions made modern chignons], Carolina Herrera (where fancy clips were made from human hair) and Prabal Gurung (glossed over pony tails were clipped in the middle) however the most inspiring were the berets that nonchalantly pinned back a wind swept side part at Rodarte.  This effect created an innocent look almost like “little girls hair”.

You can also create your own style by placing clips in different geometric and organic patterns.  Many of these interesting clips can be purchased at Bergdorf’s, Henri Bendel’s or Barney’s New York.  To achieve the best results you would need to prepare your hair.  For fine hair I recommend Davines Volumizer Mousse. For thick or frizzy hair I recommend Momo Moisturizing Anti-frizz Protective Fluid by Davines. To finish off the look use a gentile Hair Spray Invisible by Davines. I hope after giving you this blog I can inspire many who read it to this look.
